Get Involved in the Blasting Action
Use this checklist for ideas on how to get involved in the blasting campaign. When you call or write, mention the problems communities are having as a result of blasting – cracked foundations and walls, loss of water, broken windows, etc. Let the legislators know that the solution is simple: a shift in the burden of proof when blasting damage occurs from citizens to the companies doing the blasting.
_ Call or write a letter to the legislator on the Government Organization Subcommittee.
_ Have a one-on-one meeting with a senator or delegate from your district.
_ Write a letter to the editor of your local or state-wide newspaper.
_ Attend the legislative interim session meeting of the blasting subcommittee.
_ Encourage a friend or neighbor to call or write to the legislators on the blasting subcommittee.
_ Host a letter writing party.
_ Talk to a local church or community group about getting its members involved.
