February 19 - Ski White Grass/Dolly Sods sponsored by the Sierra Club. Start from White Grass Ski Touring Center. Then ascend Cabin Mountain, to access the Dolly Sods landscape on top - forest, open heaths, more. Ski in the true wilds, far from the signs of civilization. Rentals available. March 10 &11 - Conference on Building Coalitions to Vitalize Community Green Space. This regional conference is hosted by The Green Space Coalition (GSC) and West Virginia University (WVU). Purpose: to address common issues and strategies for achieving community green space goals. Place: Hotel Morgan, Morgantown, WV. March 21, 22 & 23 - Using Native Plants in the Landscape -- Issues and Opportunities. Workshop on propagation of native plants on the 21st. Symposium with speakers and panel discussions on the 22nd and 23rd. Many topics to be covered including invasive species, environmental restoration, and landscaping with native plants. Where? At Canaan Valley State Park at the resort and conference center. They are saving a block of rooms for the conference, so call 1-800-622-4121 for reservations. Rooms start at $40 for singles.

April 28th, 29th & 30th, 2000 - WVHC Spring Review (Board of Directors meeting on Sunday, the 30th). It will be held at the Cheat Mountain Club located on the banks of the Shavers Fork River in the Heart of the Monongahela National Forest (Cheat Bridge). The Club will accommodate about 30 people in rooms and a "bunk room" on the 3rd floor. It will cost $35-40/person/night for private rooms with twin or queen sized beds. One room has a private bath, the rest use large common shower rooms. Down the road in Bartow, the Hermitage has very nice rooms with 2 double beds for just $41/night. Camping will be permitted on CMC grounds. Volunteers needed to form a committee to help organize activities, especially the Saturday evening program.
