A sphagnum/cranberry bog on Roaring Plains at over 4400' in elevation. Notice the hummocks which give this bog a bumpy appearance. These wetlands on Roaring Plains are perhaps the highest in United States, east of the Mississippi River. This is not a good place for a picnic - the winds and storms can blow you relentlessly and also the ground is constantly soaked.
